The Perfect Kiss

I was thinking about this as I watched the season two finale of The Office. Jim, after how many years now, finally told Pam he was in love with her. They've been best friends for a while now and she is engaged to someone else but he told her, because he is leaving and transferring to another branch of the company. Anyway, there's some crying and he walks away leaving her standing in the parking lot. The finale ends with Pam on the phone with her mom, and Jim comes in to the office, doesn't say a word, and just kisses her. Perfect. There aren't many kisses that can be called perfect but I'd have to say that's one of them. But what makes it so perfect?

Part of it for that kiss in particular is that Pam and Jim BELONG together on the show, but in general the surprise element is what makes it so awesome - like, you know it's going to happen at some point, there's no denying it, you just don't know when. Really, there's not a whole lot to it and I am probably babbling but watching the episode and being so happy that finally, at least for that moment they were together (because they're not in season three, boo/hiss), just made me think about what makes a kiss perfect. There's no one thing that really makes a kiss perfect, when it is you just know. I've been that lucky, twice. But it was with the same person so maybe it only counts as one. Who knows, that part isn't really important, but the fact that it has happened, everything else fades away and none of the rest of the garbage matters and for just that moment, everything is calm and okay. I like that feeling.
